Update: Eight persons arrested over assault on monk and two women

Colombo (LNW): Eight persons have been arrested in connection with the assault on a Buddhist monk and two women, an event which came to attention upon a viral video on Social Media.

One suspect was arrested last night (07), and seven more this morning (08), as they surrendered to the Nawagamuwa Police, according to Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa.

These suspects are due to be produced before the Court, and further investigations are underway to identify those who had initially uploaded the video in question on Social Media, Thalduwa added.
