CPC may have to take decision following IOC’s price surge: Dullas

Date:

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) may have to take a decision regarding the price of fuel following the decision taken by the Lanka IOC to increase fuel prices, said Cabinet Spokesman and Mass Media Minister Dullas Alahapperuma, speaking to the briefing held on announcing Cabinet decisions today (08).

However, neither a decision nor discussion has yet been taken place within the government on increasing fuel prices, the Minister revealed.

The IOC recently took steps to increase the prices of petrol and diesel, but Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila commented that the CPC has not yet taken any decision in this regard.

The Cabinet Spokesman also commented on the ongoing cement shortage, stating that necessary instructions have been given to the Finance Ministry, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) and the Customs Department to overcome the shortage. The shortage of cement would not have any significant impact on the newly initiated development projects in the event that cement is not essential at the first stage of initiating projects, he added.
