Hydro power running out amidst arid weather? CEB’s response

Colombo (LNW): The generation of hydro power might face a standstill after a further period four weeks, were the prevailing arid weather conditions to continue, warned the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

As of now, hydro power generation has dropped by 15 per cent, and the supply of power remains uninterrupted due to thermal power generation.

The water capacity of Samanala Wewa reservoir has dropped to 01 per cent, and those of Castlereigh reservoir, Victoria reservoir and Maussakele reservoir to 21 per cent, 25 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively.
