Health authorities urge to avoid public assemblies amid pandemic’s prevalence

Date:

Despite the vast majority of Sri Lanka being literate, certain instructions on the ongoing Covid-19 situation have to be repeated all over again, said Deputy Director General of Health Services Specialist Dr. Hemantha Herath.

He added although many warnings have been made about the dangers of the pandemic, many people do not heed them. When the risk of the infection is increasing, public assemblies such as meetings and festivals are not suitable to be held as they can worsen the prevalence, he pointed.

If the pandemic spreads though such assemblies, those who organise them as well as those participating should be held accountable, he added.
