Colombo (LNW): The Constitutional Council has approved the appointment of new members of the National Election Commission.
Accordingly, the Constitutional Council has approved the appointment of Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake for the vacant post at the Commission.
The decision was made when the Constitutional Council gathered yesterday (05) under the patronage of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
Meanwhile, it was expected that new members may be appointed for the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), but no such event has taken place.
