Colombo (LNW): India has expressed its interest in supplying locomotives to Sri Lanka, in a move to address the shortage of locomotives leading to railway services being hampered.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka will receive ten locomotive trains under a financial grant, revealed General Manager of the Department of Railways W.A.D.S. Gunasinghe.

He added that a team of officials attached to the Dept will visit India for a quality check prior to the exporting of the locomotives.

Gunasinghe further noted that despite old locomotives being repaired, commuter trains were often inconvenienced due to technical failures.
