  1. LKR suffers a massive depreciation of 11.3% in 5 months – 03.06.23 to 03.11.23: loses value from Rs.300.33 to Rs.334.14 per USD: analysts expect the LKR to depreciate to around Rs.400 per USD by March’24, with the relaxation of import controls: LKR expected to depreciate even faster if the current trend of existing “hot-money” investments in Govt securities leaving the country, escalates.
  2. Litro Gas Chairman Muditha Pieris announces that the price of a LP Gas 12.5kg cylinder has been increased by Rs.95 to Rs. 3,565: 5kg by Rs.38 to Rs.1,431 & 2.3kg by Rs.18 to Rs.668: the price of a 12.5kg cylinder was Rs.2,675 on 31st March’22, and was increased to Rs.4,860 by 31st July’22.
