SLC files complaint with CIABOC against ex Sports Minister

Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against former Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe.

The complaint alleges the misuse of funds provided by SLC to the National Sports Fund for the development of various sports in Sri Lanka.

SLC is concerned that Ranasinghe has not properly disclosed the use of funds allocated for their intended purposes, citing a disparity between information disclosed to the media and the response received under a Right to Information application.

The cricket board emphasised the importance of financial integrity and ethical governance in sports administration.

However, former Sports Minister Ranasinghe denid the allegations, stating that the funds were used for official activities related to the Sports Ministry and audited accordingly.

Sri Lanka Cricket expresses hope for a thorough investigation by the Bribery Commission.
