Dry weather expected across Sri Lanka: Misty conditions forecasted in specific regions

March 17, Colombo (LNW): Mainly dry weather will prevail over the island, with misty conditions being expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Kalutara districts during the morning, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather forecast today (17).

Condition of Rain:
Mainly fair weather will prevail in the sea areas around the island.
Winds:
Winds will be south-easterly in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Batticaloa via Trincomalee, and winds will be north-easterly in the sea areas off the coast extending from Batticaloa to Matara via Pottuvil and Hambanthota. Winds will be variable in direction in the other sea areas around the island. wind speed will be (15-30)kmph.
State of Sea:
Sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate.

Meanwhile, heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Caution level’ at some places in North-western, North-central, Eastern and Western provinces and in Monaragala, Mannar, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Hambantota districts.

The public is urged to stay hydrated and takes breaks in the shade as often as possible, check up on the elderly and the sick, never leave children unattended, limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated, and wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.
