Derailment disrupts upcountry railway services

June 30, Colombo (LNW): Train services on the upcountry railway line have been interrupted following the derailment of a night mail train between the Galaboda and Inguru Oya railway stations, according to Sri Lanka Railways (SLR).

The train, travelling from Badulla to Colombo Fort Station, had departed at 6:30 pm yesterday (29th June) when the derailment occurred at approximately 1:15 am today.

As a result, train services on the upcountry line have been affected.

The department has announced the cancellation of two short-distance trains, and efforts to restore the derailed train are currently underway.
