Update: AG urges Supreme Court to dismiss petition against 2024 Presidential Election

July 08, Colombo (LNW): Today (08), the Attorney General presented preliminary objections to a Fundamental Rights petition aimed at preventing the Election Commission from conducting the 2024 Presidential election.

Deputy Solicitor General Kanishka de Silva, representing the Election Commission, requested the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, to dismiss the petition in limine during the hearing of businessman Chamindra Dayan Lenawa’s petition.
