Weerawansa blames Basil for ‘pickpocketing’ mandate

Date:

Former Minister MP Wimal Weerawansa made another blow in the head against the Finance Minister saying that the mandate created for this government at his efforts was ‘pickpocketed’ by Basil Rajapaksa and that the country is currently being governed by neither Gotabaya Rajapaksa nor Mahinda Rajapaksa, but Basil Rajapaksa alone.

The NFF Leader made this observation speaking to media after attending a special religious event held in celebration of his birthday yesterday (07).

“This is a mandate created at our pioneership and we cannot escape from the right to that mandate. If the economy of this country is to be dragged in a direction against that made, especially by the Finance Minister, Basil Rajapaksa, we who were committed to creating that mandate will have to take action against such a situation. That is our state of honesty to that mandate,” Weerawansa said.

He added: “I have no intention of being a representative of a Cabinet where the current Finance Minister holds a ministerial post. Because today the country is being administered by neither President Gotabaya Rajapaksa nor Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. ‘Pickpocketing’ that mandate and turning his back on that mandate, the country is being administered by the Finance Minister, Basil Rajapaksa. If truth be told, he is an American. He spends the evening of his life in America. We will not allow an American to manipulate this country as he wishes.”
