Date:

October 29, Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka Cricket has announced that the inaugural Lanka T10 Super League Player Draft will be held in Colombo on 10 November 2024.

The tournament, set to run from 12 to 22 December, will introduce six franchise teams competing in the dynamic T10 format, attracting both local and international cricket talent.

Each franchise will build a squad of up to 17 players, with a minimum of 15 required.

Player registration for the draft will close on 1 November, while franchises have until 5 November to finalise six direct player signings from categories that include an Icon, Platinum, Category A, and Category B players, each featuring both Sri Lankan and overseas talent.

The draft structure includes 11 rounds. The first round will follow a manual draw, while subsequent rounds will employ an algorithm-based randomiser to determine selection order, ensuring a fair opportunity for all teams.

Top-tier players will be selected in the opening two rounds, where each franchise can secure one local and one international player for US$35,000 each (Category A).

Rounds three and four will focus on Category B players at US$20,000 each, also split between Sri Lankan and overseas athletes.

In rounds five to seven, teams will add two local players and one international player at US$10,000 (Category C).

Emerging talent rounds will conclude the draft, with Round 8 for a Sri Lankan emerging player and Round 9 for an emerging player from either Zimbabwe or the West Indies, both at US$2,500.

The Lanka T10 Super League is set to create a vibrant, fast-paced cricketing experience, strengthening the sport’s appeal in Sri Lanka while offering players a new platform to showcase their skills.
