NFF’s Nimal Piyatissa tenders resignation

Date:

Holding a position given by a regime that violated the 6.9 million mandate is contradictory to the conscience, said Ruling Party Nuwara Eliya District MP and National Freedom Front (Jathika Nidahas Peramuna) Deputy Secretary Nimal Piyatissa, speaking to a briefing held today (14).

Accordingly, the MP has taken steps to resign from his post as the Chairman of the Regional Coordinating Committee of Kotmale in the Nuwara Eliya District.

He revealed that his resignation letter will be forwarded to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today.

Alleging that the government and the President are defying the 6.9 million mandate given to them, Piyatissa pointed out that the decision to dismiss two leaders of political parties who had committed themselves to the creation of this mandate would be totally unacceptable.

The people’s support for the government is rapidly declining, the MP went on, adding that it is facing strong opposition the entire public, including the farming community.

In the backdrop, holding a position of a regime that moves forward in defiance of the mandate is contradictory to the conscience, he added.
