NPP Dominates Matale District

The Election Commission of Sri Lanka has released the final results for the Matale District in the 2024 General Election, showing a sweeping victory for the National People’s Power (NPP), which secured more than 66% of the total votes. The NPP won the district with 181,678 votes, resulting in four seats.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) followed in second place with 53,200 votes (19.37%), earning one seat in the district. Other parties, including the New Democratic Front (NDF) and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), finished with smaller vote shares and did not secure any seats.

Final Results for Matale District:

  • National People’s Power (NPP): 181,678 votes (4 seats)
  • Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB): 53,200 votes (1 seat)
  • New Democratic Front (NDF): 13,353 votes
  • Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP): 10,150 votes
  • Sarvajana Balaya (SRJB): 3,312 votes
