Namal Karunaratne to be appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture?

Date:

November 19, Colombo (LNW): Namal Karunaratne is poised to assume the role of Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation, political sources revealed.

This appointment reflects a strategic move to integrate grassroots agricultural leadership into the higher echelons of governance.

The Cabinet portfolio for Agriculture, Livestock, Lands, and Irrigation is currently held by K. D. Lalkantha.

Karunaratne, widely recognised as the national organiser of the All Ceylon Farmers’ Federation, has been a steadfast voice for the rights and welfare of farmers.

His long-standing engagement with grassroots agricultural movements and his experience in addressing farmer-related grievances are seen as key assets for this role.
