India’s Prime Minister Modi to arrive in Sri Lanka soon

Date:

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reportedly set to pay a visit to Sri Lanka later this March, in a direct landing at the Palaly Airport in Jaffna instead of the Katunayake Bandaranaike Airport.

During his visit, the Airport in Palaly is expected to be declared open as an international airport.

During Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka during the previous Good Governance regime, plans to declare the Palaly Airport as an international airport were thwarted due to strong opposition from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), the then Opposition.

Accordingly, declaring the Palaly Airport as an international airport at the SLPP’s welcoming party as the current administration would be noteworthy.
