Deshabandu Tennakoon’s Wife Files Police Complaint Over Unwarranted Search

P. A. Umayangani Wijewardena, the wife of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, has lodged a complaint with the Athurugiriya Police, alleging that their residence in Hokandara was searched without a warrant.

According to the complaint, a team comprising officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Special Task Force (STF) conducted the search on March 18.

Wijewardena, who is a lawyer and currently serves as the Legal Director of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation, has raised concerns over the legality of the operation. Further investigations into the matter are expected.
