Railway drivers drop themselves out from OT work

The Railway Engine Drivers’ Association has decided to drop themselves out from overtime services from tomorrow (30), based on a number of reasons, including the rise in train ticket prices.

Indika Dodangoda, Secretary of the Railway Engine Drivers’ Association stated that due to the increase in bus fares, a large number of people who did not use the train in the past are turning to using the railway service and the rise in train ticket prices could be a risk that they will stop using the train again.

In the backdrop, there is no other option but to proceed with a strike action against the rise in train ticket prices and this should also be understood by the people, he added.
