Significant growth in tourist arrivals in December

Revealing a significant growth of foreign tourist visits, 69,641 foreign tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka during the last 26 days of December, said Tourism Minister Prasanna ranatunga.

In October, 22,771 tourists arrived in the country and the figure grew up to 44,294 in November. The total number of foreign tourists arrived in the country is 174,930.

Targeting the winter season, special tourism promotion programs responding to Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Ukraine and other European countries have been launched, and as a result the tourist attraction has soared.

7951 tourists arrived in the country from Russia, making it the highest number in December. Meanwhile, 6819 tourists arrived from the UK, 4131 from Germany, 2313 from France and 2054 from Ukraine.
