SLPP loses 2022 Budget at Ja Ela Urban Council

The Budget of 2022 for the Ja Ela Urban Council ruled by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) tabled by its Chairman has been defeated at a majority vote.

Only five members of the Ruling Party, including the Chairman, voted in favour of the Budget, and 10 members in opposition.

Accordingly, the 2022 Budget has been defeated by a majority of five votes. It was noteworthy that five SLPP members also voted in opposition to the Budget.

Previously, the budgets of several SLPP-led local government bodies had also been defeated.
