Collapsing Health Sector amid Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka (VIDEO)

Medical and health staffs around the country are revealing that medicines and essential supplies to hospitals are running out amid the economic crisis befallen the country.

The crisis has occurred in the event that the government’s move of soaring the prices of medicines up to 29 per cent has also increased the prices of essential medicines.

In the backdrop, medical and health staffs of frontline services of the Health Sector of Sri Lanka are now taking to the streets against the government’s policies.

They pointed out that the demand for many lifesaving medicines and medical equipment is high at hospitals across the country.

Dr. Vasan Ratnasingham, a spokesman for the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA), commented on the situation as follows;
