The biography of Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thero, titled Anjalikaraneeyo – written by Indian author Sakil Siddiqui to mark the 69th birth anniversary of Banagala Upatissa Thero – will be launched on 5th January at Defense Services College, Malay Street, Colombo 2.
The event will be commenced at 9 am, and will be presided over by Chief Prelate of Kotte Sri Kalyani Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, Ven. Ittapana Dhammalankara Thero, and Archbishop of Colombo, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
Sahil Siddiqui, born in Yusufpur, Ghazipur, India, spent his childhood in Saranath. He obtained primary education from Dharmarakshika Thero and Matiwala Sangharathana Thero at Mahabodhi College, Saranath. He obtained a degree in Mass Media from the University of Baranas, and a post graduate degree in Mathematics.
He is an experienced advertising professional, and has served as a banker. Earlier he published a biography of Anagarika Dharmapala and a short story collection titled ‘Sahil’.
Anjalikaraneeyo was ceremonially launched in New Delhi, India, a few days ago. It is published by Indira Publishers in India.
