Viceroy Special, the Sinhala version of Hemasiri Fernando’s The Viceroy Special, written by Bharatha Prabhashana Thennakoon, is scheduled to be launched today (6th March) at 3.30 pm at the Bandaranaike Memorail International Conference Hall (BMICH) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
This book is an experimental and investigative book which focuses on the creation of the Viceroy Special steam train and the expansion of railway transportation in Sri Lanka.
Bharatha Thennakoon has previously authored several novels including Asamajjathi Adaraya, Eelanga Kalla, Kumaraya and other books such as Prawruththi Athpotha, Palamu Purawesi Meduru Puranaya and Laknena Pena. Viceroy Special is his first translation project.
Hemasiri Fernando, the author of the original book, has authored two other books namely The Uva Railway and Dumriya Pravahanaye Palamu Siyawasa.
Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga, State Minister Ashok Abeysinghe and the author of the original book, Secretary to the Ministry of Defense Hemasiri Fernando will also attend the event as guests.
