HUAWEI, Sri Lanka’s number one smartphone brand, unveiled their innovative Mate 20 series smartphones at a gala launch recently. The event was held under the patronage of HUAWEI Device Sri Lanka Country Head Peter Liu, Singer Sri Lanka PLC Group CEO Mahesh Wijewardena, Marketing Director Kumar Samaraisnghe, Digital Media Director Jagath Perera and Head of Device Business, Group Business Operations – Mobile Telecommunication Dialog Axiata PLC Ayomal Gunasekara, Mobitel Senior Manager – Data, Device & Enterprise Strategy Yasiru Abeygunawardana, including dealers and other dignitaries. Professional Athele Dinesh Deheragoda, Corporate Leader and Photographer, Dr. Vickum Senanayake also participated at the event.

Available in 6.53-inch and 6.39-inch, the HUAWEI mate 20 series encompasses three devices: HUAWEI mate 20, Mate 20 pro and PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 20 RS. The HUAWEI Mate 20 series is powered by Kirin 980, world’s first 7 nm chipset.
The new HUAWEI SuperCharge and 4000 mAh large battery for Mate 20, and 4200 mAh for mate 20 Pro work in tandem to provide users with the best battery life.
The 3 point camera system includes 16 mm Leica Ultra-Wide Angle Lens which creates a sense of spaciousness and 3D effect to images. It also supports macro distance, which produces images of objects that are placed as close as 2.5 cm. the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro is equipped with a 40 MP main lens, 20 MP ultra wide-angle lens and 8 MP telephoto lens.
All devices carry a FullView display with a high screen-to-body ratio. Compactly engineered, every device can be comfortably used with a single hand. The Hyper Optical Pattern on the glass back plays with light and shadows, producing an iridescent optical effect that is immediately captivating.
The HUAWEI Mate 20 series comes with EMUI 9.0, a smart operating system based on Android P. It also introduces new AI features that enable the HUAWEI Mate 20 series to perform or enhance a range of tasks from object identification to food calorie counting. Using 3D Live Object Modeling, consumers can even create a fun digital avatar to dance or interact with.
The Mate 20 series devices come with a one year warranty and will be available for consumers at all HUAWEI Experience Centers and Singer Sri Lanka PLC. It will be available at selected Dialog and Mobitel outlets as well. HUAWEI Mate is priced at Rs 124,000 and HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro is priced at Rs 174,900. The designs are available in 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM configuration and PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 20 RS with 8GB Ram + 256GB ROM is priced at Rs 299,900.
Recently HUAWEI overtook its competitors to be the number two smartphone brand in the world according to IDC last week. In Sri Lanka, HUAWEI has secured the number one position in smartphone sales according to recent GfK reports.
