Co-cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne told the media yesterday (19) that there was evidence that 11 youths, including five schoolboys, abducted in 2008 and detained at the Trincomalee camp had sent pictures of their confinement to their parents via mobile phone. He said the humaneness of the Navy personnel of the camp allowed that evidence to take place.
He said he had all the details, and that the boys had been shot dead as the extortion money payment was delayed.
However, some are now saying these arrests were that of war heroes, said the minister.
