Two Reuters journalists have been sentenced to seven years in prison by a court in Myanmar over violating a state secrets act. The two journalists have been investigating violence against Rohingya people.
Wa Lone (32) and Kyaw Soe Oo (28) have been arrested in December 2017 while carrying official documents given by the police.
They have been collecting information about the murders of ten Rohingya men that took place in a village named Inn Din in September 2017.
They have been arrested after accepting some documents given by two police officers, and it is reported that the meeting with the police officers was a set-up to entrap the two journalists.
They have been arrested prior to their report’s publication.
