At least 17 people were killed in a fire broke out in a hotel in New Delhi today (12).
The fire broke out at about 4.30 am local time in Hotel Arpit Palace in Central Karol Bagh region.
According to Delhi’s Deputy Fire Chief, firefighters had saved 35 people. 19 people had been admitted to hospital due to smoke inhalation and other injuries.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a fire at Karol Bagh in Delhi. I convey my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. May the injured recover soon.”
The cause of the fire has not been determined yet.
