From meditation to oil anointing

Crimes are on the rise in the country. But, the police are giving priority to meditation and New Year customs.
Picture shows how an IGP anoints oil on a policewoman for the first time in the 151 year history of the police.
Unresolved crimes remain piled up. Drugs have become a social menace. Road accidents are rising by the day. All this time the IGP is making a mockery of his position. Pujith Jayasundara has made police the laughingstock of the public.
It was more than a year ago that he was accused of assaulting an elevator operator, Samarakoon Banda, at the police headquarters. No action was taken against the police chief over the incident. The police commission allows the IGP to do whatever he wants and looks the other way.
