The Avant Garde Security Service, founded as a land security service and expanded into international oceanic security service, is a local company that came to international limelight as a security service. Accordingly, various conversations regarding the Avant Garde Service and its founder chairperson retired Army Major Nishshanka Senadhipathi had begun to surface.

Strikes are not a new experience to Sri Lankans. Each year, at least two-three strikes are launched in Sri Lankan hospitals. It is the general public who experience difficulties due to these strikes. Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) had announced that they will launch their latest strike 3 August against the Singapore Free Trade Agreement and ten other matters.

And early this month, Rajapaksa’s rival and successor President Maithripala Sirisena had to declare a state of emergency for more than a week after Buddhist-Muslim clashes left the island-nation reeling.
