The AG’s Department informed the court that a State Minister had received cheques worth Rs 3 million on three occasions from W.M. Mendis & Company Limited.
The cheques were encashed by security officers, the court was told.
Earlier, Minister Sarath Fonseka and former Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera had complained that Arjuna had given money to the parties involved in the monolingual activities.
However, State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe has made a statement regarding this. He says that various individuals received financial assistance for the 2015 general election campaign. He has said that money from the Mendis company and the bond issue has nothing any connection.
Earlier, Minister Sarath Fonseka and former Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera said that Arjuna had given money to the election campaign.
