New Secretary to President visits Mahanayaka Thera

New Secretary to the President Udaya R. Swneviratne said that his expectation is to join hands with government servants and serve the public under a new national policy.

 

Speaking to media after meeting Mahanayaka Thera yesterday (7), he stated that there is a great public service to be done as well as improving the development of the country. The newly appointed Secretary to the President met with Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera at Malwathu Maha Viharaya and Mahanayaka Ven. Warakagoda Gnanarathana at Asgiri Maha Viharaya.

He said that he has received the opportunity to do a great government service through this new appointment made by President Maithripala Sirisena.

“I am happy about having an opportunity to work for the public. A government servant depends on people's taxes. He is well aware of people's problems. If the appropriate environment is created, government service would be the most prominent service in the country. They do a very important part. Government servants have done a great service for the development of the country.” he said.

Mr. Seneviratne further said that the President's main objective is to develop rural economy along with the country's development.
