Conversations brought upon the payment crisis of the plantation workers have taken a contradictory turn amid different opinions raised by the Trade Union leaders of the United National Front (UNF).
The contradiction between the opinions was revealed during the press conference held in the Temple Trees yesterday (05).
As of now, the plantation workers are at a huge struggle in increasing their payments, and projecting a mismatch of opinions among public representatives amid such crisis is highly problematic.
Former Minister Palani Digambaran stated that it is unfair to raise payments up to 1000 Rupees without having a common understanding and an agreement between the workers’ representatives and the owners. However, commenting on the media, former State Minister Vadivel Suresh firmly stated that the ideology of estate owners facing losses cannot be accepted, and that the workers’ demand to increase the payment up to 1000 Rupees is extremely fair.
Former State Minister V. Radhakrishnan emphasized that the estate companies need to be investigated into whether they can fulfil these requirement first, otherwise alternatives must be proceeded.
