The United National Front, with the signatures of eight of its members, has handed over a proposal to the Parliament Secretary-General stating that Ranil Wickramasinghe has secured majority’s support in the Parliament to act as the Prime Minister.
The proposal in question has been submitted with the signatures of former ministers Sajith Premadasa, Ravi Karunanayake, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Lakshman Kiriella, Rajitha Senaratne, Palani Digambaram, Mangala Samaraweera and Rishad Bathiudeen.
If it is presented to the Parliament on December 12, a debate and a vote will be held.
Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Prime Minister post has already been challenged through two motions of no-confidence, and it has been demonstrated that the UNF has the majority’s support. The UNF emphasizes that Ranil Wickramasinghe must be reappointed as the Prime Minister.
The Tamil National Alliance has also agreed to support the UNF to restore the government that existed before October 26.
The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna also provides its support to defeat President’s unconstitutional conspiracy.
