United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Johnston Fernando says that since President Maithripala Sirisena has taken over the Sri Lanka Police Department, he receives reports, videos and details of discussions of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Addressing a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) meeting held in Kurunegala on 5th January, he made this statement.

MP Johnston Fernando said he is privy to CID’s information while speaking of a discussion reportedly attended by Mangala Samaraweera.

“Mangala Samaraweera had held a discussion recently. We receive all information about it because the police is under President Sirisena. We receive CID reports, videos and details of discussions.”

He added: “Mangala had stated that a parliament election must be held as soon as possible. He had further said that if they continue to work under these circumstances, the number of MPs on their side will decline to 60-65; but if they hold an election now, they will have at least 80-82 MPs.”

MP Johnston Fernando had stated: “Even though President Sirisena opposed us back then, today he has joined hands with us to get rid of Ranil Wickremesinghe’s group, for the country.”

Cases have already been filed against many Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members including Johnston Fernando over various charges including financial misappropriation. It is in this context Johnston Fernando states that he is privy to CID reports.

Put simply, Johnston Fernando is saying that the President is supplying secret information, which is a serious situation.
