New Central Province Governor Maithri Gunaratne says he is against the new Constitution.

He made this statement while speaking to media when he visited Kandy recently to meet with Mahanayaka Theros.

He also said that no one demands a new constitution. Mahanayaka Theros of Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters and all Buddhist monks oppose it, he added.

However, former Uva Province Governor and new Southern Province Governor Rajith Keerthi Thennakoon stated it is too early to speak about a Constitution no one has seen. He added that in the last two months, everyone could see the consequences of abruptly presenting the 19th Amendment to the Constitution to parliament and last-minute amendments.
