A senior banking professional with over 40 years experience in the local bank arena, Jayaraja Chandrasekera assumed duties as the new Chairman of National Savings Bank (NSB).
Mr Chandrasekera’ has served in Hatton National Bank in various posts including as a member of the Senior Corporate Management at Hatton National Bank and later at Pan Asia Bank and Zenith BPO Pvt Ltd as a member of the Board of Directors since leaving his alma mater Royal College Colombo.
He also extended his professional services as the Managing Director of Dellogistics International and functioned in the capacity of Management Consultant. He has an MBA from the University of Sunderland.
He has gained experience in wider spectrum of banking while serving at Hatton National Bank and has undergone training at prestigious local and foreign academic institutions and banks.
He is a member of the Association of Professional Bankers.
In addition, he has also actively engaged with religious institutions specially, Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya and at present he is the Secretary of the Dayaka Sabawa.
Minister of Ports and Shipping and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake, State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne, MP D.M. Swaminathan, Western Provincial Council Member Upali Gunaratne and former NSB Chairman and Ministry of Finance Director General – ERD Priyantha Ratnayake and the Board of Directors of NSB and General Manager/CEO of NSB Dhammika Perera and corporate management were among those who attended the ceremony.
