Many projects have been implemented in Sri Lanka through the IFAD Mission project for the development of Sri Lanka’s tea, coconut and rubber industries. Within the past six months, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has invested USD 5 million for the development of these industries.
A meeting was held yesterday (13th March) between Plantation Industries Minister Navin Dissanayake and IFAD Vice-president Donal Brown, Regional Director (Asia) Nigel Brett and Project Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Tarek Kotb at Hotel Taj Samudra to discuss the progress of the ongoing projects and to plan what type of projects must be implemented in future.
Secretary to the Ministry of Plantation Industries J.A. Ranjith and Project Manager of STaRR Project Janaka Amarasinghe also attended the meeting.
