When there is nothing can be achieved by seeking local courts, the United States is being sought for prosecution, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa says.
He made these comments in sharing his views in regard to recent filing against former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa at a US court in connection with the assassination of senior journalist Lasantha Wickramathunga.
The parliamentarian added that the prosecution before a US court has been made in connection to a case related to neither higher court nor indictment before local jurisdiction.
He emphasized that no Sri Lankan political decisions can be rigged despite seeking international help.
"No political decisions in this country can ever be changed, despite the international community is being sought for prosecution. Our political decisions are taken by our country's people. Therefore, we ask from our people to keep an open mind and wisely look at things to avoid international conspiracies."
Mr. Namal Rajapaksa further added that although they are ready to face any upcoming election, some who are fond of speaking about presidential election have postponed the provincial election.
"Those who are afraid of a provincial election are now speaking of a presidential election. So, we ask from the government to first conduct the provincial election."
He went on to say that a presidential election can be followed after a provincial election.
He made these comments in responding to the media after attending to a ceremony held in Hambantota.
