People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) says that despite either the President and the Prime Minister having many opinions to state before the political arena, neither of them has the tendency to conduct the provincial election.

Their Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said that the term of seven provincial councils has already been ended, meanwhile the term of the Western Provincial Council will end by April 20, and no party has intention of conducting a election in the appropriate time.

He emphasized that postponing elections can be an anti-democratic and anti-people act.

Mr. Hettiarachchi said that at present, seven out of nine provincial councils are being governed by the governors, adding that by the coming 20, the Western Provincial Council will fall under the governor's control.

However, it is possible that this election may be demanded before court, but it would also be a long process, he added.
