Asbestos sheets for healthy consumption introduced to Sri Lanka

A form of asbestos sheets suitable for healthy consumption will be introduced to Sri Lanka by the Russian Government, the Health Ministry informs.

 Russia is the country with the largest manufacturing portion in the asbestos industry of the world. While the demonstration of the new asbestos sheets to Sri Lanka is on schedule, Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne was introduced to the project in Colombo recently.

The meeting was participated by Mr. Sergey A. Kraevoy, Deputy Health Minister of Russia, and officials of the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka. The new asbestos plates were demonstrated to be manufactured fitting with the Sri Lankan weather and houses.

The meeting was also participated by Secretary of Health Wasantha Perera and Director General for Health Services Consultant Dr. Anil Jasinghe.
