Several places in Western, Central, North-Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts are likely to be uncovered with showers or thundershowers, the Department of Meteorology said.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur at several places in Uva, Eastern and Northcentral provinces and in Hambantota district after 2 pm, the department said.
Fairly heavy falls of rain of about 75 mm can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts.
Also, there may be temporary localized strong winds passing the areas during thundershowers, the department warned, while the general public is kindly requested to stay vigilant and take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightening activity.
Meanwhile, the coastal communities are informed to stay vigilant about the coming weather. Showers and thundershowers may occur in several places in the sea line extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Galle and Batticaloa. Winds are at tendency to flow due South-Western at a speed of 25-35 kmph in the sea line throughout the island.
Wind speed may increase up to 50-55 kmph at time in the sea extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar and the sea area extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil.
Deep and shallow waters extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil may be rough at times, the department further said.
