Circular on removing name boards written in Arabic: Minister Vajira

Minister of Internal & Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Vajira Abeywardana says a circular will be issued requiring the removal of name boards written in the Arabic language if there are any at public or private institutions.

According to the minister, the circular will be issued to heads of all public institutions and local government bodies.

According to Constitution of Sri Lanka, no name boards must not be displayed in languages other than Sinhala, Tamil and English, he noted.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had also stated that all street name boards in the country must be displayed only in the recognized national languages, Sinhala, Tamil and English.
