JO trying to engage with other parts

The Joint Opposition is currently engaged in discussions with the Muslim Congress for a possible alliance in the oncoming election, sources say. According to a JO member, the discussions have been initiated to ensure the support of minorities towards the Joint Opposition as a means of correcting the mistakes took place the previous elections.

Sources have further revealed that discussions have already started between the JO and UNP backbenchers to secure their support for the Podu Jana Peramuna. It is said that the mission is sphereheaded by MPs Dullus Alahapperuma,BandulaGunawardhana, Keheliya Rambukwella and Johnston Fernando. When queried on the matter, JO MP Prof. G.L. Peiris said that true SLFPers and all those who respect the policies of the SLFP could join hands with the PJP. Meanwhile another JO senior said that favorable responses have been made for an alliance from several SLFPers as well.
