Island wide Nurses’ strike has been unsuccessful – Saman Rathnapriya

Addressing a press conference today Chairman of Government Nurses Officers’ Association Saman Rathnapriya said that Public Services United Nurses Association called island wide nurses strike has been unsuccessful according to the facts collected from the hospitals

The press conference held at the Office of Government Nurses Officers’ Association in Colombo on March 13, 2017.
“70 percent of nurses who work at General Hospital in Colombo not participate for the strike. Generally, 15 percent of nurses are participating for strike. In some hospitals such as Eye Hospital in Colombo, nurses were threatening by their heads to participate for the strike.”
He added, “There are hidden agendas behind the strike such as politics, pro-SAITM and disturb our strike to be held on April 06.”
“As a trade union leader Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero failed to get benefit for the good of nurses. But our trade union has been taken many benefits for them.”
