Health minister speaks about his plans
Health minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne says investors will be encouraged to invest in the health sector. He says investment projects will be initiated after direct discussions, without allowing any acts of bribery happening. Senaratne was speaking after opening an accident treatment unit, built at a cost of Rs. 1,030 million, at Kalutara general hospital yesterday.
He went onto say that similar units would be opened island wide, and that another project was underway to build children’s hospitals in Kalutara, Jaffna, Ampara, Ragama and Galle.
The minister said he intended to implement the most poor-friendly health service in Sri Lanka. He said that he would be flexible and would disregard politics in serving the people.
According to him, many European countries and the US are assisting to uplift the health service.
A felicitation of the Kalutara general hospital staff and a distribution of wheel chairs also took place.
