‘No increase in electricity rates’ Minister assures!

Power and Renewable Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the government has taken no decision to increase electricity charges. He further emphasized that the government will continue to supply electricity at a concessionary rates.


Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), state-run fuel retailer, increased the prices for fuel last Thursday 10th May and subsequently, many service providers stressed the need of increasing prices for their services such as public transportation services.

The minister did the above statement during an inspection tour to Sri Lanka’s first solar panel production factory.
