Army to release 522 acres back to original owners

The Sri Lankan army has agreed to release 522 acres of private lands in North and the East to their original owners.

These lands had been acquisitioned during the war and the landowners, who are currently residing in welfare camps and other temporary shelters, will be subsequently resettled.

After the war, the government has so far released approximately 4990 acres.
