Chairman of Rupavahini Cooperation leaves his position

It is reported that the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Cooperation Ravi Jayawardhana has handed over his resignation letter to subject Minister Mangala Samaraweera.

He has mentioned in his resignation letter that he is resigning due to personal reasons. He further says that the time has come for him to say goodbye to Rupavahini Cooperation, where he served as the chairman for 3 years.

He further mentions that he is happy about his decision and that he has been able to make the Rupavahini Cooperation a profitable company again and attract audience who had been distanced from the television.

In the meantime, it is reported that the Chairman of the Independent Television Network Saman Athawudahetti is also getting ready to resign. His resignation letter will be sent to the minister in the next few days. He too has stated that he is resigning due to personal reasons.

There were rumors recently that there is a plan to remove chairmen of entities belonging to the Mass Media Ministry and it is not clear yet whether these resignations are a result of it. It is also reported that there is a plan to replace Shantha Bandara, the Chairman of Selacine, a company operated under the Mass Media Ministry.
