Teachers strike in support of tea estate workers’ protest

The teachers of the Teachers’ Training College, Kotagala, Hatton, engaged in a strike today (26) morning (26) urging plantation companies to increase the basic wage of estate workers up to Rs 1000.

The strike took place in front of the entrance of the Teachers’ Training College on Hatton-Nuwaraeliya main road.

The teachers emphasized that estate workers are the labors who are receiving the minimum wage in the country.

They said that the government must intervene to increase the estate workers’ basic daily wage up to Rs 1,000.
